Creating a Better Crafting Experience

After a decade of dreaming about starting an art business, I've finally done it. When starting a business, experts say you need to think about what is missing in the market that you can provide. That can be either a new item or service, or an improvement on existing items or services.

Here are my goals with launching plithora online:

  1. Provide high-quality hand-crafted items that spark joy. I love seeing the look on someone's face when I share a new piece. More than making money from selling items, I want to make people happy when they see my art.

  2. Make crochet patterns and craft tutorials more easily accessible. In my efforts to improve my craft, I've visited a lot of sites posting patterns and tutorials, and they are frustrating to navigate. I get that people are trying to make a living, but the bombardment of adds interferes with the actual product. I want to create a website with no ads.

  3. Share my knowledge to help others be more creative themselves. I don't just want to share patterns; I want to help you develop the skills needed to create yourself. I get asked frequently if I have considered teaching classes on crochet. I'd love to explore how to do that online. Being creative has so many benefits to our wellbeing, and I want to share that with you.

  4. Share my creativity. I like to try a lot of different art forms and crafts. I'd love to share my experiences with you. My Pinterest board is filled with DIY projects and ideas. I want to create a space where I can try new ideas out and share with you what works and what didn't, and maybe try them together. I've also been thinking of doing craft kit reviews.

So those are my goals. I know it's going to take a lot of work to get this project going, so please be patient with me as I start to get these implemented on my website. I have so many ideas on content to add, including step-by-step videos and stitch tutorials. I have no experience with creating video content, but I will get there.

I am also going to start a Patreon so anyone who wants can support me as they are able to. I'm going to do this instead of monetizing my actual website. Some exclusive features will only be available to paying subscribers, but I do want to make as much content freely accessible as possible.
